Celebrate Veteran’s Day by traveling to New Orleans and visiting The National WWII Museum that tells the story of the American experience in the war that changed the world—why it was fought, how it was won, and what it means today—so that all generations will understand the price of freedom and be inspired by what they learn.
Day 1: We will travel to New Orleans and arrive in time to visit The National WWII Museum for a couple of hours before our delicious dinner at Superior Seafood & Oyster Bar.
Day 2: We return to The National WWII Museum for a full day to take in all the exhibits. While at the museum, we will be treated to a buffet lunch and performance by The Victory Belles, a delightful vocal trio performing the music of the 1940s. We will have dinner on your own at Mother’s Restaurant. Mother’s was the hang out for the few and the proud, the U.S. Marine Corps, during and after WWII and is now known for their jambalaya, Shrimp Creole and po’ boys. They offer other non-seafood options.
Day 3: We will depart for the Mississippi Industrial Heritage Museum in Meridian, Mississippi. We will step back to the turn of the twentieth century during our guided tour through America’s last intact steam engine factory. We will finish off the trip by having lunch at Mississippi’s oldest restaurant, Weidmann’s, before heading back to Hartselle.
