Savannah & Tybee Island April 29 - May 2, 2019

Travel with Dena & Kim to beautiful Savannah, Georgia!  We will depart from the Kroger parking on Highway 31 in Hartselle and travel to Savannah.  We will board the Georgia Queen River Boat that evening for their Gospel Dinner Cruise.  After an evening of delicious food and music, we will check in our hotel located in Savannah's Midtown.  After a hot breakfast buffet, we will enjoy a private trolley tour of historic downtown Savannah and a tour of the Prohibition Museum.  You will then enjoy time on your own in City Market.  After enjoying lunch on your own, we will tour the Geen-Meldrim House, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and several of the downtown squares.  After working up an appetite walking in downtown Savannah, we will enjoy an old fashioned Southern dinner at Mrs. Wilks.  We top the evening off by watching the energetic musical, Savannah Live! at the Historical Savannah Theatre.

After another good night's rest and hot breakfast, we will head to Tybee Island for the day.  We will begin at Tybee Island's Lighthouse.  If you are up to the challenge of 178 steps, you can get a beautiful overview of Tybee Island from the Lighthouse observation deck.  If you are more suited to staying grounded, you can visit the three Light Keeper's Cottages and 1899 Military Battery.  We will then explore Tybee's south-end market area where you will enjoy lunch on your own and take in the ocean view.  You may want to stroll down to the pier.  We then drive through a canopy of oak trees draped in 

Spanish moss as we enter Wormsloe Historic Site Park for a guided tour.  Next stop is Pin Point Heritage Museum to experience the Gullah/Geechee culture first hand.  We Conclude the evening with dinner at The Original Crab Shack nestled off the banks of Chimney Creek on Tybee Island.

Patriotism & Peaches Day Trip

Celebrate Alabama's Bicentennial by traveling with Dena and Kim to Montgomery.  We tour the 112-year-old Governor's Mansion that has served as the official residence of the Governor and First Family since 1951.  We will enjoy lunch at the Montgomery's local favorite, Martin's "Meat & 3" Restaurant.  Their fried chicken is a must have!  After lunch, you will have an opportunity to experience 300 years of Alabama's story at the Department of Archives & History Museum, "Alabama Voices."   You can also visit the Capitol, State House and The First White House of the Confederacy.  We have requested a group picture with Scott Stadhagen, District 9 Representative.  

We can't go back home with out stopping in Clanton at the iconic Peach Park.  Treat youself to a scoop of fresh peach ice cream or one of their other delicious desserts as you stroll through their park or sit on a bench and enjoy the view.  You can also pick up some fresh vegetables, jellies, jams and other gift items in their store.

Day Trip to "The Farms"

Travel with Dena and Kim to the rolling hills of Tennessee.  We will start with a stop at Amish Community in Ethridge, Tennessee.  The motor coach will take us on a tour through their farm community.  The community has 57 homes that operate as businesses offering items such as soaps, furniture, fruits, vegetables, and breads.  We will stop at several homes to give you an opportunity to purchase some of their items. 

We will travel to Lynnville and have lunch on your own at Soda Pop Junction.  After lunch we will go to candy legend, Frank C. Mars' 1930's Manor House at Milky Way Farm.  We will be treated to a tour of the 25,000 square foot mansion and dessert around their historic 40 seat dining room table.

Washington DC & Thomas Jefferson's Monticello 5 nights August 15 - 20, 2019

Travel with Dena and Kim to Washington DC.   We will overnight in Roanoke, Virginia on the way to DC and on the way back.  We will be staying in the heart of DC.  Our hotel is only 9 minutes from the U.S. Capitol.

The National WWII Museum - New Orleans 2 nights November 5 - 7, 2019

Celebrate Veteran’s Day by traveling to New Orleans and visiting The National WWII Museum that tells the story of the American experience in the war that changed the world—why it was fought, how it was won, and what it means today—so that all generations will understand the price of freedom and be inspired by what they learn.

Day 1: We will travel to New Orleans and arrive in time to visit The National WWII Museum for a couple of hours before our delicious dinner at Superior Seafood & Oyster Bar.

Day 2: We return to The National WWII Museum for a full day to take in all the exhibits. While at the museum, we will be treated to a buffet lunch and performance by The Victory Belles, a delightful vocal trio performing the music of the 1940s. We will have dinner on your own at Mother’s Restaurant. Mother’s was the hang out for the few and the proud, the U.S. Marine Corps, during and after WWII and is now known for their jambalaya, Shrimp Creole and po’ boys. They offer other non-seafood options.

Day 3: We will depart for the Mississippi Industrial Heritage Museum in Meridian, Mississippi. We will step back to the turn of the twentieth century during our guided tour through America’s last intact steam engine factory. We will finish off the trip by having lunch at Mississippi’s oldest restaurant, Weidmann’s, before heading back to Hartselle.

Holly, Jolly Holiday Lights Day Trip to Nashville

Travel with Dena and Kim to Nashville to see the Christmas Lights!! 

 

We will travel to Nashville and begin at the Opry Mills Mall. You will have time on your own to take in all the Christmas decorations in the mall and shop at the 200+ stores. Enjoy lunch on your own at the Rainforest Café, Johnny Rockets or one of their other restaurants.

When you are ready, you will walk over or take the tram to the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and experience the lavish Country Christmas displays throughout the Hotel featuring over three million lights!

We will load at 3:30 pm at the Opry Mills Mall and head over to Lebanon, Tennessee’s Dancing Lights of Lebanon. The motorcoach will drive through the 2.5 mile display of over two million lights dancing to music. The lights and displays are on both sides making it visible to all on the bus.
